ZEPP Bets on Amazfit Sports Watch Transformation

TL;DR

ZEPP / Amazfit might be a hated wearable turnaround trading around 0.4x book because people still think it is cheap Chinese fitness-band trash.

Product sentiment has improved. Revenue is growing. Brand is trying to become Garmin-lite for the HYROX/running/fitness crowd.

But they still lose money, the balance sheet is not clean, and this could easily be a value trap.

If Q2/Q3 show operating leverage, $5 may look stupid cheap. If not, the market is right to ignore it.

Position: Calls 7.5$ Dec 2026 and 25$ Dec 2026 Not financial advice.

Ticker: $ZEPP Company: Zepp Health, owner of Amazfit smartwatches. (I have 2 of them)

Most people still think Amazfit is some cheap Xiaomi-adjacent fitness band brand from 2018. That used to be fair. But the product line over the last year looks different. T-Rex, Balance, Cheetah, Active, HYROX partnership, running/fitness focus, better GPS, better battery, higher ASPs. They are clearly trying to reposition from "cheap smartwatch" to "budget Garmin / Coros competitor."

The market seems to be treating them like dead hardware trash. Maybe correct. But the setup is interesting.

The weird valuation part

ZEPP has an ADS structure that messes with screeners.

1 ADS = 16 ordinary shares.

Q1 2026 weighted ordinary shares were about 253.9M. Divide by 16 and you get roughly 15.9M ADS-equivalent shares.

At around $5/share, that gives a market cap around $80M, not the insane number some data sites show.

Book value from Q1 was around $194M.

So this is roughly:

  • Market cap: ~$80M
  • Book value: ~$194M
  • Price/book: ~0.4x
  • Book value per ADS: roughly $12+

That does not mean it is automatically cheap. Book value can be fake-ish if the company keeps burning cash, inventory is overvalued, or debt eats the equity. But it does mean the market is pricing this like a distressed hardware zombie.

The actual bull case

This is not "Amazfit beats Apple." That is stupid.

The bull case is simpler:

Amazfit becomes the default "good enough Garmin alternative" for people who want sportswatch features without paying Garmin tax.

Garmin is expensive. Apple Watch battery sucks for serious endurance use. Coros is good but still niche. Amazfit is trying to wedge into the market with strong battery, AMOLED, maps, titanium/sapphire models, HYROX, running features, and lower prices.

If consumers start seeing Amazfit as a legit sportswatch brand instead of cheap gadget junk, the multiple changes.

Not to Garmin levels. Just from "left for dead" to "repositioning brand with real revenue."

That alone could matter a lot when the market cap is tiny.

Recent numbers

Q1 2026 revenue was $51.5M, up 33.8% YoY.

Gross margin was 37.7%, which is honestly not terrible for hardware.

Q2 2026 guidance is $63M to $68M.

The problem: they are still losing money. Adjusted net loss in Q1 was still around $17.9M. So revenue growth by itself is not enough. The whole thesis depends on operating leverage finally showing up.

If Q2/Q3 show revenue growth AND losses narrowing hard, this can rerate.

If Q2/Q3 show revenue growth but they still burn $15M+ a quarter, this is probably value trap garbage.

Why this thing ran to $60+ last year

ZEPP already had one insane move. It went from left-for-dead levels to around $60+ in 2025.

That was likely a combination of:

  • tiny float / low liquidity
  • Q2/Q3 2025 revenue acceleration
  • turnaround narrative
  • Amazfit product sentiment improving
  • people realizing ADS-adjusted valuation looked weirdly low
  • momentum mania

Then it collapsed because the market wanted proof of profitability, not just better watches and vibes.

That matters because it proves this thing can move violently. It also proves it can nuke your position just as fast.

I am probably an idiot.

Post Analysis Summary

The poster discusses Zepp Health (ZEPP) and its Amazfit smartwatch business. The core thesis is not that it can challenge Apple Watch or Garmin, but that it is a small-cap distressed turnaround candidate that the market treats as “cheap Chinese hardware junk,” while it may be shifting toward becoming an “affordable Garmin/Coros alternative.” The post has no image attachments, and the argument is mainly based on company financial reports, the ADS share structure, and product/brand observations. The poster emphasizes that ZEPP’s ADS structure can easily cause screeners to misread the valuation: 1 ADS represents 16 ordinary shares, Q1 2026 weighted ordinary shares were about 253.9 million, equivalent to about 15.9 million ADS; if the stock price is about 5 dollars, the market cap is about 80 million dollars, while Q1 book equity was about 194 million dollars, implying about 0.4x price-to-book and book value per ADS above about 12 dollars. The poster does not treat low P/B as a sufficient reason, and acknowledges that book value may be eroded by continuing losses, inventory quality, debt, and hardware-industry depreciation. On the operating side, the bullish narrative is that Amazfit’s product line over the past year has clearly shifted from low-end fitness bands toward sports training use cases, including T-Rex, Balance, Cheetah, Active, as well as the HYROX partnership, running and hybrid training features, longer battery life, AMOLED, maps, titanium/sapphire and other higher-ASP configurations, trying to reach users who do not want to pay Garmin premiums but need stronger battery life and sports features than Apple Watch. In terms of financial evidence, Q1 2026 revenue was 51.5 million dollars, up 33.8% year over year, gross margin was 37.7%, and Q2 guidance was 63 million to 68 million dollars, showing that growth and gross margin have not completely collapsed; but the key flaw is also here: Q1 adjusted net loss was still about 17.9 million dollars, a very high percentage of revenue, and operating expenses and brand investment are still consuming gross profit. Therefore, the poster’s implicit assumption is that revenue growth can produce operating leverage, and that Q2/Q3 must not only keep growing but also significantly narrow losses; otherwise, the low P/B is just a value trap. In terms of positioning, the poster discloses holding December 2026 expiration 7.5 dollar and 25 dollar call options, indicating a bet on nonlinear re-rating triggered by improved data over the next several quarters, rather than steady profitability. The post also mentions that in 2025 ZEPP once surged above 60 dollars and then collapsed, which the poster attributes to a small float, low liquidity, accelerating revenue, product reputation, and ADS valuation mismatch being briefly discovered by the market; this is both evidence of volatility upside and a reminder that the stock may fall sharply due to liquidity and narrative shifts. Overall, the post is a “cheap but dirty” hardware turnaround story. The biggest catalyst is revenue exceeding guidance over the next two quarters with losses rapidly narrowing, while the biggest risks are that brand improvement fails to translate into profit, and that debt and cash burn continue to dilute book value.

Discussion Summary

The comment sample is very small, with only two substantive replies. One questions whether Amazfit is merely an ordinary Android heart-rate watch platform whose functions can be replaced by cheaper products, and notes that it has separated from the Xiaomi ecosystem. The other broadly agrees that the ADS structure causes valuation confusion, and also recognizes improved product strength in T-Rex 3 and Balance and HYROX’s brand value, but stresses that the path from good products to no longer burning cash remains unclear; only if Q2 revenue is delivered and losses narrow can the narrative potentially be rebuilt.

Fact Check
supported
ZEPP’s 1 ADS = 16 ordinary shares, and Q1 2026 weighted ordinary shares were about 253.9 million, therefore equivalent to about 15.9 million ADS-equivalent.
The company’s Q1 2026 financial report states that each ADS equals 16 ordinary shares and discloses that the weighted average number of shares used to calculate loss per share was 253,929,090; this converts to about 15.87 million ADS.
supported
Q1 2026 book value was about 194 million dollars; if the stock price was about 5 dollars, market cap was about 80 million dollars, implying P/B of about 0.4x.
The financial report shows total equity of 194.168 million dollars as of March 31, 2026; multiplying the post’s stated stock price of about 5 dollars by about 15.9 million ADS gives a market cap of about 80 million dollars, implying P/B of about 0.4x. The exact market cap will vary with the real-time stock price and actual ADS count.

Q1 2026 revenue was 51.5 million dollars, up 33.8% year over year, gross margin was 37.7%, and Q2 2026 revenue guidance was 63 million to 68 million dollars.
These figures are consistent with the company’s Q1 unaudited results released on June 8, 2026.
supported
Q1 2026 adjusted net loss was about 17.9 million dollars, showing the company was still unprofitable and that the turnaround depends on operating leverage appearing.
The company disclosed a Q1 2026 GAAP net loss of 19.6 million dollars and an adjusted net loss of 17.9 million dollars; although operating loss narrowed slightly year over year, the loss size remained large.
supported
Amazfit is using HYROX, running, and hybrid training scenarios to shift the brand from cheap smartwatches toward a more sports-focused, higher-end Garmin-lite positioning.
Company announcements confirm that in April 2026 it expanded its relationship with HYROX into a three-year global partnership, and the Q1 report emphasizes products such as Balance, Cheetah, and T-Rex as well as the Hybrid Training strategy; however, “Garmin-lite” is the poster’s summary of market positioning, not an official company financial conclusion.
unclear
ZEPP surged above 60 dollars in 2025, showing that small-cap low-liquidity stocks can be extremely volatile.
This limited fact check did not find a sufficiently reliable historical daily price source to confirm whether the 2025 high exceeded 60 dollars; the assessment of low liquidity and extreme volatility requires further verification using historical market data.
