Companies including Academy Sports & Outdoors, GoPro and the Children’s Place have sold rights to potential tariff refunds for immediate cash amid uncertainty over payout timing. Interest surged after a Supreme Court ruling struck down global tariffs, lifting claim valuations from about 20 cents to 80-90 cents on the dollar, before slowing. Inquiries have risen at least 50% since early June as phased government refunds leave some claims unresolved. Academy received $10.5 million, while GoPro transferred roughly $19.4 million in potential claims. The Children’s Place sold $38.2 million of expected refunds for $25.7 million and separately received $5.5 million. Sleep Number preserved its ability to sell future payouts.
